Mary provides rehabilitation for patients at the Southern Clinic in Ringwood and has over 30 years’ experience, having traveled around the world working as a physiotherapist in New Zealand and the US.

Much of Mary’s role sees her getting out of the clinic and into the real world to help patients feel more confident in their day-to-day activities. This might include a visit to the beach, a shopping centre, travelling on public transport or trying a new sport, such as archery or kayaking. With Mary’s invaluable assistance, her patients can adapt to life after an amputation and become as active as possible. She works closely with her patients on a bespoke exercise programme to improve strength and aerobic capacity, as well as improving their walking and balance ability with targeted gait training exercises. Mary also provides therapy input for pain control, such as mirror therapy and Neuromotus as part of the Pain Management Programme.

Mary’s favourite part of her job is seeing the progress that patients make over time. She enjoys a sense of pride when she watches an amputee begin to walk again and return to the activities they enjoyed before their amputation.

Professionally, Mary is a member of the Health and Care Professions Council, The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, The British Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Amputee Rehab and The Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists.

Alongside numerous exciting professional achievements, Mary isn’t afraid of taking on a challenge in her free time. She loves to travel and is kept busy with running, cycling and long distance walking. She has run and walked many of the UK’s national trails, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and trekked in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco.
