Dorset Orthopaedic are delighted to partner with The Cleveland Clinic to provide and amputee rehabilitation pathway that is efficient, timely and offers highly beneficial treatment options to patients who have endured a catastrophic injury.

In the event that a patient is involved in a accident resulting in catastrophic injury, The Cleveland Clinic can provide any immediate treatment options that the patient may need. This helps with time efficiency and allows the patient to begin their long road to recovery as soon as possible.

For patients who may have already begun their rehabilitation and may have encountered a setback requiring revision surgery or further imaging to identify any issues.

For Case Managers and Lawyers, this service straightens out some of the complexity when dealing with lots of different treatment options across multiple locations.

Overall, this new partnership offers a whole suite of treatment and rehabilitation options to help the patient get back into the real world and achieving their goals.

100 Years of The Cleveland Clinic

The Cleveland Clinic was at the forefront of modern medicine when it was first organized as a multi-specialty group practice in 1921. From a small outpatient clinic, it has grown to become the world’s first integrated international health system. With more than 65,000 caregivers worldwide, Cleveland Clinic has almost 6 million patient visits per year, at more than 200 locations.

On the 7th February 2024, the Cleveland Clinic launched a new amputee rehabilitation service to provide immediate and impactful treatment for people with catastrophic injuries.

Treatment Pathways

The new treatment pathway has 2 distinct channels.

Patients with a recent catastrophic injury in need of immediate surgery, can be referred directly into the Cleveland Clinic for treatment. Once treatment such as surgery and/or imaging etc is complete, the patient can then be treated at Dorset Orthopaedic in order to help them return to their life and the real world.

Dorset Orthopaedic have a cohort of existing patients who at times may need additional surgical intervention of imaging to identify and treat any issues that may have developed.

Having the availability of imaging from X-Rays, MRIs and CAT scans in house provides fast and efficient progress for patients.

Adding into the mix the input from Rehab Consultants and Surgical Consultations, makes this a try 'One Stop Shop' for patients and people involved in the litigation process.
