Kate joined our Manchester clinic in 2021 as a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist. Being practically minded and taking an interest in engineering Kate saw physiotherapy in a university catalogue and decided “engineering with people” was perfect for her.

Following qualifying from the University of the West of England in 1999 and completing junior rotations followed by a static post at Southport Spinal Cord Injury Unit, in December 2002 Kate started work at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre Headley Court in Epsom, Surrey. In 2005, Kate began seeing more conflict trauma and traumatic injury cases which resulted in her being involved with setting up the complex trauma rehab service, working closely with the P&O team to create the best holistic outcome for patients. She completed her MSc in Rehabilitation Studies with the University of Strathclyde in 2012.

Having an extensive background in trauma rehabilitation, Kate has brought her expertise to Dorset Orthopaedic. Kate specialises in multi trauma complex injuries and thrives when presented with a challenge, she also has an interest in functional electrical stimulation to retrain nerves and muscles. Kate’s motivation is to enable people to achieve their goals, whether this be how life was preinjury, or wherever their dreams take them.

Outside of work, Kate loves to be outdoors and keeping active, enjoying hiking, open water swimming and gardening. One of Kate’s biggest achievements was being awarded for the MBE for services to military casualties in 2020.
