Jamie joined and set up Dorset Orthopaedic’s Amersham clinic in 2006 as a Prosthetist. Following a motorcycle accident which resulted in a below knee amputation, Jamie was inspired and given the confidence by his own Prosthetist who was an amputee, to retrain at the University of Salford and follow in his footsteps.

After graduating, he initially worked within the NHS before taking a position within the research and development team of a prosthetic manufacturer based in Iceland. With the same company, he travelled extensively to over 20 countries providing clinical and educational support for local rehabilitation specialists and prosthetic teams.

Jamie’s motivation in his role is the people; he takes pride in supporting them following amputation and returning them as closely as possible to their pre-injury state. Having worked with a variety of patients, Jamie has extensive knowledge in lower limb prosthetics as well as partial hand levels of amputation. Being a former Paralympian, means that Jamie can put himself into the patients’ shoes who are starting their journey in athletics and high activity prosthetic use. Jamie feels just as much pride when helping people return to being mobile with their children and families as he does to see someone win a gold medal.

In addition to his work, Jamie has maintained a keen interest in sport. He represented GB as a sprinter during the 1996 Paralympic games and several international competitions. During 2014, he swam the English Channel as a part of a 4-man amputee relay team and is also planning to repeat this again during 2024 with the same team. Outside of work he is kept busy with a young family and enjoys running, travelling as well as more adventurous activities.
