Community Support
At Dorset Orthopaedic, we welcome support from other therapy teams also involved in a clients care to provide a truly holistic approach to therapy. We have strong links with many teams across the country from neuro-therapists, councillors, psychologists, hydro-therapists and occupational therapists to vocational rehab experts and many more.
Community supported therapy sessions can take many different forms. It might be a session in clinic working on gait biomechanics with the clients neurophysio to optimise the current prosthetic set up for that client. It could be a session at a local hydrotherapy pool where we practise walking in a wet environment, access to and from the pool and use of a prosthesis in water or it could be a visit to the workplace with a vocational rehab therapist to look at use of a prosthesis in the work environment.
Community sessions can take many different forms, and no two clients are ever the same. This is why working together is so important. Education and the sharing of knowledge and skills is at the heart of our rehabilitation services and we welcome the opportunity to learn from others to help push our clients to reach their full potential.
If your client is attending one of our clinics, please do feel free to attend with them or contact the centre and speak to their treating therapist so we can work together to meet that clients’ bespoke goals.
