In celebration of the upcoming Paralympics, Rio Woolf has chosen a bold design for his new prosthetic socket. For Rio the design choice was simple…it had to look like the Paralympic Torch. The 2016 Paralympic torch celebrates diversity and equality.
The shape of the torch has four angles which represent courage, determination, inspiration and equality - all of which are in keeping with Rio’s tenacious spirit, youthful energy and ability to meet life’s challenges head on. Rio recently got to show off his new socket when he appeared on Good Morning Britain. He spoke about the attending the upcoming Invictus Games, meeting his heroes and saying hello to Prince Harry!
It seems fitting that Rio, who was named after the famous city, will touch down in Brazil later this year with his very own Paralympic torch!
