Knee and Foot Orthoses

KAFO

These are fabricated in a variety of materials including carbon fibre or polypropylene. These braces can be beneficial when other forms of bracing are insufficient to adequately control knee instability due to muscle weakness.

KAFO's stabilise weak segments at both the ankle and the knee - controlling abnormal or involuntary movements and preventing potential painful positions.

AFO

Dorset Orthopaedic manufacture a range of ankle-foot orthoses (AFO’s) that encompass the ankle joint and all (or part) of the foot. With the option of either being rigid or hinged, allowing a degree of forward rotation. Externally applied, the AFO controls the position and motion of the ankle, compensating for weakness and rectifying deformities.
