Dorset Orthopaedic is a world-leader in the manufacture and supply of silicone products for both upper and lower limbs.
Our Ringwood manufacturing centre is home to our highly skilled Technicians. The entry requirements for a Dorset Orthopaedic Technician are extremely high, with most holding First Degree’s in Model Making, Fine Art and other related subjects.
Our Technicians have the skills to create the highest level of detail and quality and will work directly with you to supply you with a product that is bespoke to you.
All our silicone products are manufactured using medical grade silicones that are colour mixed in front of you to ensure you are happy at the start of the process. Our highly experienced Technicians spend time to ensure that no stone is left unturned so that the finished product is as you desire.
Various hardness grades of silicone are used to cater for different levels of stiffness, support and flexibility that may be required in your product.
Where specified, the manufacturing process can incorporate cosmetic features such as freckles, hair and tattoos which can be designed to match existing limbs, or indeed if you want to take the opportunity simply to get creative.
Once the silicone cosmesis is nearing completion, our UK based clients have the opportunity to work with the Technician to add any fine detail or make any small adjustments to shape. The product then goes through a heat-treatment process that ensures the final product is robust and able to endure daily activity.
Dorset Orthopaedic also manufactures silicone products for over 15 other clinics around the world. Our Technicians travel globally to work directly with both clients and Prosthetists. Please see our worldwide partner page to find out more.
Dorset Orthopaedic is accredited to the standard ISO 13485 and as a medical device manufacturer, we are fully compliant with the requirements of the Medical Devices Directive 93/42/EEC. Our silicone solutions have won applause from around the world.
