A knee joint sensor measures step length and frequency, transmitting this information for the dynamic control of the swing phase. An impact sensor records the heel strike and forefoot load via strain gauges, ensuring a safe stance. Whether walking up or down stairs, on level ground, slopes, or uneven terrain, the integrated microprocessor coordinates all measurement and control processes and ensures that the damping of the hydraulic unit is properly adapted in real time to the respective situation. This is how the C-Leg® ensures a natural gait at all times, regardless of walking speed or step length.
